Whether you’re a seasoned Scout, a parent looking to get involved, or someone keen to give back to the community, this role offers a unique opportunity to inspire and empower the next generation.
What’s Involved?
As a Section Team Member, you’ll:
- Support and Deliver Activities: Help plan and run a variety of exciting, safe, and engaging activities for young people, ensuring they enjoy a balanced programme.
- Encourage Growth: Promote the achievement of badges, awards, and new skills, including the prestigious Chief Scout’s Award.
- Create Adventures: Ensure all young people have opportunities to enjoy memorable experiences, like camps and nights away.
- Collaborate and Lead: Work closely with Section Leaders, Young Leaders, parents, and other volunteers to create an inclusive and thriving section.
- Champion Young Voices: Help young people share their ideas and shape their Scouting experience.
What Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking individuals who:
- Are enthusiastic, approachable, and keen to work with young people.
- Enjoy teamwork and are open to learning new skills.
- Are willing to complete relevant training, including safeguarding and safety modules.
- Are committed to upholding the values and policies of The Scout Association.
No prior Scouting experience? No problem! We provide comprehensive training and a welcoming team to support you every step of the way.

Appointment Details
- You’ll report to the Group Lead Volunteer and work alongside Team Leaders, Members, and Young Leaders.
- You must complete a provisional appointment process, initial training modules within 5 months, and a Wood Badge within 3 years.
- The role involves regulated activity and requires safeguarding checks.
